Mainpuri: Samajwadi Party candidate Tej Pratap Singh Yadav filed his nomination from Karhal assembly seat of Mainpuri. This seat fell vacant after SP President Akhilesh Yadav was elected MP from Kannauj. During the nomination, a strong presence of the Yadav family was seen, which included Akhilesh Yadav along with his wife and Mainpuri MP Dimple Yadav, Azamgarh MP Dharmendra Yadav, uncle Shivpal Yadav and SP General Secretary Ram Gopal Yadav.
SP’s solidarity shown with nomination
Akhilesh Yadav was present with Tej Pratap at the District Magistrate’s office during the nomination process. Karhal seat is considered a strong bastion of SP, which has been with the party continuously since 1993. In 2002, BJP’s Sobran Singh Yadav won this seat, but later he joined the SP.
Sharp attack on BJP
In a conversation with the media, Tej Pratap Yadav targeted the BJP and said, “Till now BJP has not even found its candidate.” At the same time, Ramgopal Yadav said that SP will have a one-sided victory in Karhal and BJP should worry about saving its deposit. Rejecting the claims of BJP, he said that even in the Lok Sabha elections, BJP had claimed victory on all 80 seats, but the reality was different.
Statement on alliance with Congress
Akhilesh Yadav clarified on the issue of alliance with Congress that talks are going on and soon an agreement will be reached between the two parties. The by-election of Karhal assembly is considered important for SP, as this area is part of Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat, which is represented by Dimple Yadav.
Schedule of by-election
Voting for this by-election will be held on November 13 and counting of votes will be done on November 23. Karhal area is located in Etawah district and is only four kilometers away from Saifai, which is the ancestral village of Akhilesh Yadav. SP has dominated this area for a long time, and the party has expressed hope of a huge victory this time too.
